Quién compra, a qué precio y bajo qué aranceles.
The world honey market in public, verified, free data. Who buys, at what price, and under which tariffs.
01 — Demanda mundial01 — World demand
2025 imports by country, in tonnes. The label at the end of each bar is what that market paid per kilo.
The United States alone buys 246 thousand tonnes, more than the next four markets combined. Europe together buys more, but with a catch: Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain pack and re-export, so adding up European countries counts the same honey two or three times. The real European bloc, net of internal trade, is comparable to the US — not double it.
Japan is the world's third-largest buyer at 51,644 tonnes — two and a half times Saudi Arabia, and on par with Germany. Any read of this market that treats it as a secondary destination is missing a market the size of Germany's.
Price says as much as volume. China paid 15.23 dollars a kilo and South Korea 8.30: they buy little, but they buy expensive, niche honey. At the other end, Poland paid 2.00 and Spain 2.19, because they are packing hubs buying cheap bulk to re-export. An exporter looking only at market size aims at the wrong market.
CIF unit value of all honey entering the United States. This is not the beekeeper's price: it is what the importer pays at the border, mixing bulk and packed honey. Hollow points are UN-estimated months.
The 2022 peak — nearly 4 dollars a kilo — coincides with the year the antidumping orders took effect. Price then fell to 2.44 by April 2024 and has spent two years oscillating between 2.45 and 3.10 with no clear trend. Read 2022 with care: the whole year carries an imputed unit value.
03 — Orígenes03 — Origins
Tonnes the United States bought from each origin, January to July, 2026 against the same period of 2025.
Argentina is the clear winner with 54% more volume. India, still the number one supplier, gives up 17%. And Mexico grows 51%, from 4,649 to 7,024 tonnes — the third fastest gain on the board.
04 — Aranceles04 — Tariffs
Antidumping rate for companies not individually examined — the rate most exporters actually pay. Each bar is one review round by the US Department of Commerce.
Vietnam went from 60% to 122%, fell to 17.8%, then climbed back to 34.9% across four rounds. Argentina did the opposite: it started at 16.92%, dropped to 2.61%, and its 2023-2024 round pushed it to 21.35% — above where it began. A buyer who signed an annual contract in the wrong window absorbed the entire difference.
Why this matters more than price. Honey prices move in cents per month. These rates move by tens of percentage points overnight, published with no advance notice. For an importer, the tariff weighs more on landed cost than the negotiation with the producer.
05 — México05 — Mexico
Volumen exportado y precio promedio obtenido.
Export volume and the average price obtained. The two moved together, then came apart.
Between 2022 and 2024 Mexico lost almost half its export volume, from 28,723 to 15,304 tonnes, and the price fell from 3.96 to 3.10 dollars a kilo. In 2025 volume recovered to 21,234 tonnes, but the price did not come back: it is still 3.10. The market recovered; the margin did not.
Germany buys more Mexican honey than the United States, but pays less: 3.01 against 3.34 dollars a kilo. That 33-cent gap across 7,727 tonnes is 2.5 million dollars a year in difference — exactly the kind of figure a Mexican exporter does not have at hand.
